In addition to its merits as a creative and commercial work, Claude Lanzmann: Spectres of the Shoah also serves as a vital educational tool for institutions focused on teaching students about genocide and the Holocaust, as well as filmmaking in general.
The team has organized free-to-the-public screenings of the film in partnership with organizations such as the Museum of Tolerance, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre, The Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM).
In the case of the USHMM, an April 2016 screening in Washington DC was deemed so successful that it led to a series of regional outreach screenings across the U.S., in states such as Illinois and Florida. A copy of the film has been placed into the USHMM’s Film and Video Archive for future researchers to access.
To license the film for an educational screening, please contact educational distributor Film Platform.
